Steve’s Field Note
July 22, 2008
I’m heading out on a road trip soon, so of course I decided it was a great time to make some big changes. This is the debut of the HTML version of this newsletter. Let me know what you think. Read about others in this week’s Twisting Road Travel Log. While you’re there you’ll notice another one of the changes.
Seeing how many people are competing for clients on price alone inspired me to write another article for Anything But Marketing! I hope it helps you market based on value and only focus on price in promotions.
With the trip coming up I will publish the Travel Log and this newsletter if I find a free or affordable internet connection. If not, I’ll be back in two weeks.
Twisting Road may be delayed because I’ll be on the road? Seems like that should be funny, but… hmm…
Enjoy the scenery On The Twisting Road!

TWISTING ROAD TRAVEL LOG
“What A Time To Make Big Changes!”
My first step at communicating about my new career was starting this blog as Chasing Wisdom. I did that before I was even clear what my new career would be. I narrowed my focus to personal development coaching and renamed this blog Twisting Road. I started a Blog-Zine at Chasing Wisdom where I wrote about creative career choices, self-employment, getting along with money, mentorship as leadership, and time management.
A few months back I started an e-mail newsletter, On The Twisting Road, to focus on creative careers, self-employment, and entrepreneurship. That led to some important questions, like What’s the difference between Chasing Wisdom and my e-mail newsletter? and Do I still need both of them? I finally sorted out my ideas and make some big decisions. But why in the world did I choose now to put them in place?

ANYTHING BUT MARKETING!
“Is Price Alone The Right Message?”
It’s time for the annual renewal of our homeowners’ insurance so we’ve been getting lots of letters from insurance agents. We’ve even received four letters from different agents affiliated with the same company. The message in each letter is the same: Switch insurance companies and you can save money.
But is price alone the right message?
